FAQ

Roofing questions from Tampa homeowners

Answers on cost, permits, storms, insurance and roof care. If yours isn't here, call and ask.

Costs and estimates

Is the roof inspection free?

Yes. The inspection, the photos and the written price cost nothing, and there is no obligation.

Do you give prices over the phone?

We can talk about rough ranges, which are in our cost guides. A real price needs someone to measure the roof and look at its condition.

Do you offer financing?

Yes, payment plans are available on larger jobs, and many homeowners also look at the My Safe Florida Home grant. See financing and grants.

Licensing, permits and materials

Are your roofers licensed?

Yes. Roofing is a state-licensed trade in Florida, and the work is done by licensed, insured roofing contractors. The license number is printed on the written proposal and the contract.

Who pulls the permit?

We do. City of Tampa addresses go through City of Tampa Construction Services, unincorporated county addresses through Hillsborough County Development Services, and Temple Terrace and Plant City through their own city offices.

What is Florida Product Approval?

It is the state's approval showing a roofing product has been tested for use under the Florida Building Code. Every material we install carries one, and it also sets how the product must be installed.

Storms and insurance

What should I do right after a storm damages my roof?

Stay safe, stop the water with buckets or a tarp, photograph everything, report the claim, then have the roof documented. Our claim guide goes step by step.

Will you meet my insurance adjuster?

Yes, if you want us there. We walk the roof with the adjuster and point out the damage we documented.

Is any roof hurricane-proof?

No. Wind-rated, impact-resistant materials installed correctly give a roof the best chance, but nobody can promise a roof will survive any storm.

Roof life and care

How long does a roof last in Tampa?

It depends on the material, the installation and the exposure. Full sun, salt air and storms shorten every roof's life compared with milder climates. Shingles generally need replacing sooner than well-kept tile or standing-seam metal.

Can I pressure-wash my roof?

Please don't on shingles. High pressure strips the granules. A gentle roof-safe cleaning is the way to deal with algae streaks.

How often should I have the roof checked?

Once a year, ideally in spring before hurricane season, and after any strong storm.

Storm passed over? Have the roof looked at before the next one.
